Mentoring Works!

HomeStretch mentors have a tremendously positive influence on family progress in the HomeStretch program.   We train and equip mentors throughout the year.   Susan, a new mentor shared her appreciation for that ongoing support. “I just finished my fifth meeting with ‘Angela’ and I wanted to let you know how impressed I am with her!  Thank you again for the training you provided to the mentors – it helped me better communicate with and motivate ‘Angela’. She is planning for her future and accomplishing her goals from a budget perspective – and a personal and spiritual perspective too. She is making amazing progress and I am impressed with her focus. The training you gave me and your patient guidance has helped me help her on her path.”

North Point Community Church Partnership

HomeStretch was honored this year to be selected by North Point Community Church as an official ministry Partner. As a Partner, North Point asked us, “What would help your organization make a big difference?” Then, during one of their morning services, Pastor Clay Scroggins presented HomeStretch Executive Director Rose Burton with two checks to ensure that HomeStretch can make that difference! The first gift is designated for 800 Forrest Street, an affordable housing initiative for HomeStretch graduates and the low-income workforce in North Fulton. The second will help provide counseling services for families in our program. This is only one aspect of North Point’s Be Rich campaign, a time when the church commits to “Give, Serve, Love”. Through this amazing part of their ministry, North Point members not only gave financially, but also invested hundreds of hours on service projects for HomeStretch. We are thankful for their partnership!

Roswell Heroes to HomeStretch Kids

Once again, the Roswell Police Department invited HomeStretch families to join in its Heroes and Helpers event. Each holiday season, officers pair up with homeless and low-income children to help them shop for family and friends with donated gift cards. This year’s event was great fun for all. Both the children and their parents were not only excited but also grateful for this special opportunity. Thank you, Roswell Police Department!

New Friends from RentPath

A big group of volunteers from RentPath joined us in November to spruce up our community.  They planted, raked, trimmed, and weeded to complete our fall cleanup – with big smiles all day! The RentPath team learned more about HomeStretch when Rose Burton spoke at their United Way Lunch and Learn. Rose shared our mission and success stories and invited them to continue to partner with us. Thank you, RentPath, for both of these opportunities to connect.  We hope to see you back at HomeStretch in the future!
