Who We Are

HomeStretch originated in 1991 when volunteers at the local North Fulton Community Charities recognized the pressing need for affordable housing in the North Fulton area. As the number of at-risk families seeking housing assistance increased, the charities found themselves limited to providing only emergency, short-term aid.

To meet this growing demand, volunteers established the North Fulton Housing Ministry within the North Fulton Community Charities. Drawing inspiration from various transitional housing programs across the United States, they amalgamated the best practices to create HomeStretch, The Housing Initiative of North Fulton.

Jim Taylor

Board president

James “Jim” Taylor serves as President of the HomeStretch Board of Directors, having previously served as the organization’s Treasurer. That progression reflects both a deep familiarity with HomeStretch’s finances and a sustained commitment to its mission.

Professionally, Jim is Senior Vice President and Solutions Architect at Flying Cloud Technologies, where he leads DSPM (Data Security and Privacy Management) products for high-level data security applications. A Georgia Institute of Technology graduate with dual degrees in Materials Science Engineering and Computer Science, he brings more than three decades of executive leadership across AT&T, InterContinental Hotels, and Global Payments, roles in which he managed multi-million-dollar budgets and large, complex operations spanning multiple states and continents.

Jim applies that same discipline to board leadership: strengthening governance, ensuring fiscal accountability, and helping HomeStretch scale its impact responsibly. What motivates him most, however, is not the balance sheet but the outcomes behind it. He is drawn to what makes HomeStretch’s work distinctive; that it does not simply move families out of homelessness, but walks alongside them until independence is genuinely sustainable. Seeing families remain housed, employed, and self-sufficient years after completing the program is, in his view, the clearest measure of work worth doing.
