Volunteers are the heartbeat of HomeStretch and
are critical to the success rate of our
programs. We have flexible opportunities -
various time frames and a variety of skill sets
are needed throughout the year. You or your
group can participate for a day or an extended
period. Regardless of the time you invest, you
can make a difference in the lives of our
families by sharing your time and talents.
Individual volunteer opportunities:
- Serve as part of a mentor team offering
on-going support, encouragement and skill
development
- Help renovate a HomeStretch home-swing a
hammer, paint a wall or plant in the garden
- Serve on a HomeStretch committee working
on programs, finance, development,
marketing/PR
- Donate items to furnish a HomeStretch
house
- Sponsor a family for Thanksgiving or
Christmas
- Be a guest speaker at one of our Life
Skills classes
- Participate or volunteer to help with one
of our fundraising events - Run the River
road race, Peachtree Tea and golf tournament
- Assist in the office or with computer work
- answer phones, greet clients, or help with
light administrative duties
- Provide professional skills - marketing,
design, legal, accounting
- Sponsor monthly birthday parties for
families - provide food, paper goods, goodie
bags and birthday presents for honorees
Group volunteer opportunities:
- Participate in a housing renovation
workday with your organization
- Provide funds to help underwrite the
expenses for a HomeStretch housing unit
- Provide a meal for families attending a
monthly Life Skills class
- Assist with family activities planning to
provide social events for our clients
- Sponsor monthly birthday parties for
families - provide food, paper goods, goodie
bags and birthday presents for honorees
Volunteer details:
- Complete a volunteer application, consent
to a background check and agree to comply
with HomeStretch volunteer procedures
- Volunteer training is provided by the
HomeStretch staff and includes program
guidelines and information on how to
effectively participate
