Each family enrolled in a HomeStretch housing program benefits from a Family Sponsor Team. This team is a group of trained volunteers committed to helping the family return to housing self-sufficiency. Each team organizes itself into three sections:

• Mentoring
• Budgeting
• Resources

Mentors provide emotional support and encouragement for families enrolled in the HomeStretch program. Mentors may recognize birthdays, invite the family out for an afternoon picnic and do serve as positive role models for each family member.

The Budget Advisor formulates a savings plan with the family to track income and expenses on a weekly basis. A Budget Advisor teaches parents how to successfully address debt and to make good financial decisions.

Resource Volunteers help the family solve problems with child care, employment, transportation, child support and other challenges homeless families face when they have lost their homes, their belongings and many of their family records.

With the recent growth of our agency come additional opportunities for family sponsorships. Your organization can join the list of sponsor teams which work hands-on with the families of HomeStretch. A sponsor team makes a financial commitment of $600 per month to offset the cost of utilities, insurance and property taxes.
