SUPPORTIVE SERVICES

The families enrolled in HomeStretch housing programs require a multi-phase support network. Each family is evaluated prior to entering the program to determine an appropriate and individualized family plan.

This comprehensive case plan established for each family includes the following:

  • Goal Achievement Plan (a document by which long-term and short-term goals are measured
    and monitored)
  • Support Log (documentation of interactions with the family and related agencies)
  • Treatment Plan (coordination of staff and volunteer service delivery efforts)
  • Financial Counseling Report (documentation of progress on budget issues)

Following are typical supportive services extended to each HomeStretch family in transitional housing:

  1. Financial.  In addition to direct aid from HomeStretch and the various public assistance
programs, all families require assistance in budgeting and management of personal
finances. The HomeStretch Family Coordinator meets weekly with each family to discuss
social issues and any financial problems.
  1. Childcare.  Resources include the North Fulton Child Development Center and various
programs at area churches who offer care at low or no cost.
  1. Education.  The Fulton County Alternative School offers literacy classes, vocational training,
and high school level courses (childcare is provided). Other resources include access to
life skills training through HomeStretch-sponsored Success Workshops.
  1. Jobs.  Families in the HomeStretch program must be employed. Resources are available to
improve job readiness skills and job search techniques at several area churches and job
training programs throughout the metropolitan area.
  1. Transportation.  The community is served by the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit
Authority (MARTA) bus service. However additional transportation support is provided
through a network of transportation volunteers as a part of the family sponsor support group.
  1. Substance Abuse.  Individual counseling is available through Northside Mental Health
Department, AA and AlAnon. Illegal use of controlled substances and alcohol abuse
constitute grounds for immediate dismissal from the HomeStretch program.
  1. Emotional.  Northside Mental Health Center and the family counseling centers offered
through larger churches in the area provide emotional counseling for clients.
