ALPHARETTA, GA. –
Wells Fargo team members have chosen 17
Alpharetta and Roswell non-profit groups and 234
non-profits in all for $1,000 grants in the
third year of the Days of Giving program in
Atlanta.
The company also
announced that its Atlanta team members had
pledged or given $937,000 through its annual
United Way and Community Support campaign – 10
percent more than last year. Wells Fargo is also
making a $600,000 corporate contribution to the
United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta.
The event honoring
local nonprofits was held at the Ed Isakson/Alpharetta
Family YMCA in Alpharetta. A total of 234 groups
across the metro area were chosen by employees
for $1,000 grants through the program.
In the Days of
Giving celebration, team members in the
company's almost 200 bank stores in Atlanta,
along with those in other business lines,
selected and recognized groups that were
delivering important services in their local
areas.
The donations to the
groups are being distributed at five community
breakfasts across Atlanta. Wells Fargo launched
the annual initiative in the fall of 2009.
"Just the names
of many groups say so much," said Doug
Fuentes, community bank president for north
Atlanta. "We are proud to reach so many
groups and people through this."
"Wells Fargo
has a long proud history of community
involvement and local decision making,"
said Robert Dobbs, business banking area
manager. "Days of Giving is the ideal
representation of that and we look forward to
celebrating our communities in this way for
years to come."
